Mini Horse Visits in Care Homes

At Mini Horse Heroes, our miniature ponies are trained to bring comfort, companionship, and joy to residents in care homes. They visit both communal areas and individual bedrooms, creating meaningful moments of connection for everyone, including those living with dementia.

These visits often spark memories, encourage conversation, and provide a calming presence that supports emotional wellbeing. Families and staff regularly tell us how uplifting it is to see residents smile, relax, and engage during a pony visit.

Each booking can be tailored to your needs. We’ve supported a variety of themed events, from country and western days (with the pony in a cowboy hat) to Christmas celebrations (complete with a mini sleigh and Father Christmas).

We hold an Entertainments Licence from Maidstone Council, which is required to validate our insurance policy. Before every visit, we provide a copy of our insurance and a detailed risk assessment, which can be adapted to suit your home.

Our mission is simple: to make every visit a positive, memorable experience that enhances quality of life and brings a little extra magic into someone's day.

What is a Care Home Visit?

pony_care_home_resident_in_bed

1 hour visit to a care home to meet and greet residents.

The home is in charge of how long each resident engages with the pony either in the communal area, garden or individual bedrooms.  If you are a big home, you may wish to consider extending the visit or booking 2 visits.

Our horses love meeting and greeting new people, and often doze in laps or on beds (even those on other floors as they are trained to go into lifts).

Includes:

*  1 pony and 2 helpers

*  enthusiasm, respect and care from handlers

Price starts from £145

(We charge extra for longer time, extra ponies, 20 miles +)

Engagement with Residents

The lady in this video loved stroking Dude and spoke to him as well which apparently is very unusual.  Dude has the ability to really connect with some residents and creates special moments.

Gertie is following in his footsteps and doing really well.

Don't forget to book a special Christmas Visit with us.  Dude (or Gertie) visit with a mini sleigh on their backs filled with diabetic sweets and chocolate as a gift to residents.

We are fully insured for all visits and take the safety and wellbeing of your residents very seriously.

Our ponies are always accompanied by experienced handlers who gently guide interactions to make sure everyone feels comfortable and safe. For example, we ensure residents approach from the best side of the pony, and we always provide a helper to supervise from behind so that the visit remains calm and enjoyable for everyone.

To give you extra peace of mind, we also hold an entertainments licence, which is required to validate insurance for animal visits to care homes.
